This weekend was my husband’s 70th birthday. We had a party for relatives and friends at his local golf club. Sue, a local friend from Devizes, very kindly did the table arrangements and very clever they were. The arrangements sat on small pieces of Astro turf, with golf balls and tees surrounding them. The genius was in the “vases”. My husband makes bread three times a week and some of it is sold at the golf club for their refurbishing fund. So the flowers where arranged in loaves of bread. Magic.
This one is now sitting on our dining room table.
Was a very good weekend. But now need to get back to stitching.
Finally, I have worked out why my very expensive Bernina machine keeps behaving badly and snagging threads on the back of my work. The bobbin hook contraption is scratching the bobbins which have shiny silver computer parts. Once the silver is scratched, the bobbins snag. It has only taken 2 years and several phone calls and trips to my dealer!!! Currently, I have his machine which works fine if I select my bobbins carefully – I have about 10 that need to be thrown out. And there is the minor detail of Bernina working out why the bobbins are getting scratched and fixing my machine!
But I have been working. Here is the quilt for “Structures” in Henley if I get it selected. It has been quite a difficult one to make and the colours on the photo are not great – the light colour is a pale apple green.
Still needs some threads sorting out, facing and a sleeve.
The next image is another new piece of work – only partially quilted. It is based on some collages I have been working on. It may well have the orange piece on the right chopped off unless it looks better when stitched.
Til next time – keep stitching.
I have now finished my second quilt to go to Munich with zero3, Study in Aubergine 1. Well, it still needs a label but I have done the bindings and sleeve which I hate doing. Here it is finished and photographed for my artist statement:
For a change, I have faced this quilt as I felt my usual binding would complicate the edges.
On the social networking scene, I have had a number of Facebook friends requests which I have accepted. This means I should update my Facebook page and then start keeping it updated. My eldest son has just cycled from Alaska to Washing DC kept us up-to-date using Instagram so I also need to pay some attention to my Instagram account – so much to do and so little time.
Til next time
